PBR is proof that Pokémon battles are absolutely fantastic if animated well. I still think there should have been something extra like Stadium-styled minigames so it isn't just battles, but the sheer spectacle of those batttles is so great it almost doesn't matter. There's no reason the next game shouldn't come with them though. PBR2 with a Mario Party subgame alongside that would be an instant classic.

This used to be the only way to battle randoms online when Diamond and Pearl were releases. The DS battle gimmick was also kind of neat because I had no idea the DS could communicate with the Wii till this game came out

I know what I said in my prior post, but no, no minigames != no content. PBR had some interesting formats for the battles that you played, and it was more than just the gym challenge from the main series again, which you could sub out for regular trainers and it would change nothing except the admittedly decent music. The fact is that PBR is only marginally worse than Stadium 1 or 2.

I had the game since I was a kid, but I doubt I'd go out of my way to get it now. The animations aren't worth the price tag because you're ultimately getting slower battles with prettier animations and nothing else. PBR also introduced team preview, which works with the paradoxically fast-paced 3v3 and 4v4 battles, but it ruins 6v6, and at that rate it just comes down to personal preference.
