Mystical Fire coverage for fairies was a bit too much if you ask me because even Sylveon(who was mostly harmless besides hyper voice) can hit steel types for good chip and keep momentum now.
Honestly Fairy was made OP arbitrarily due to how they changed dark and steel in gen 6. Making steel weaker against knock off and sucker punch while adding a new resistance in fairy.
I can't really see a good way to "fix" that. People often think giving ice a fairy resist would be good but it also makes their fire coverage better. I think the only types that could benefit a lot from being fairy resistant are rock and electric as rock would be able to be a decent defensive type and electric would be a real answer to the nightmarish fairy/steel typing.
