I don't know if you've noticed, but a majority of Pokémon have looked better in static 2D art then they did in motion.

At least, as the 3D models and animation direction featured in modern Pokémon games are concerned.

I'm not even sure since we got the artworks long after the games released.
Dottler would be the only case where I'd agree, but the 2D art isn't as bad as the 3D screenshot.
