I think save for a few legends and some fully evolved stuff, most pokemon are rather weak. Keep in mind, there are a lot of pokemon that can't learn Strength HM. Chuck has the body of a typical /fit/ user (obvious he was kind of chubby at one point, but got some nice gains and got his shit together) and he can hurl around the rocks pokemon use Strength to move on his own. Pokémon just seem a shitload stronger than they actually are because the protagonists are wimpy little 10-year-olds. I'm probably slightly weaker than Chuck, but I can totally use moves like Brick Break and Low Sweep IRL, so I'm probably about as tough as, say, Throh, or Marowak, you know, the lesser fully evolved stuff. now, that doesn't mean I'd win every fight against Marowak or Throh, I'd probably get my ass kicked a couple times if we fought on a regular basis, but I'd probably kick their ass about as much and put up a really good fight when I lose, which is what I mean by "About s tough as". An average adult who doesn't work out or have any real training would probably be on level with a mid stage or some of the weakest fully evolved pokemon, like Wartortle or Mightyena, or some of the rougher basic pokemon, like Deino. The game protagonists are probably on level with basics like Nidoran or Tepig, so to them anything stronger than that looks like a fucking beast and a half.
