Before I challenged Blaine, I went to fight Zapdos at the Power Plant. I only brought Romby, Baronet, and Seyval Blanc. Zapdos nearly wiped my fucking run with TWO moves. Romby pulled through though.
Blaine was piss easy (like every other gym leader in this pitiful game). Romby, Great South, and June took out his team.
Anyone have any moveset suggestions for Romby and Seyval Blanc? They're the only two members that haven't "proved" themselves. I plan to give Romby Hyper Beam.

Colress and the Shadow Triad could've actually ended my run despite being multiple levels lower, fuck. Colress honestly had me by the nose the whole battle. I fell for Air-balooned Klinklang with Prague, after which I switched Vegas out into a Giga Impact. Ended up a slugfest with Manchester. Babylon got killed by Metang, and also avenged by Manchester. I had to face the Shadow Triad with only a few items left, which I propably wouldn't have been able to if Havana and Nineveh weren't untouched by Colress. Just finished up training my new members. I also tried to grind Belgrade instead of Caracas first, but it didn't end well. Not looking forward to fighting Marshall, may have to switch one of my boys out for that.

My boy Gin & Tonic died to a random wild Geodude's self destruct. First loss of the run. Gonna train up Rotom to replace him. There is a fair bit of forced healing (each of the stat trainers & a few zones do it), and so I've ended up only using a single pokecenter so far.

Run's going well, all things considered. Last time I attempted this I wiped at the fourth gym to a bullshit mega Miltank so we'll see if I get further than that. Also, as per the built in "Ironman Challenge" option, a wipe results in a loss, and the automatic deletion of my save file, so expect there to be multiple attempts at this bullshit.

And that's the last of Akala, Ruby managed to prove what an absolute tank he is by plowing through Olivia's team like it was nothing, more than earning that MVP spot (Peets still being an absolutely crucial member to the team, but a little more on the frailer side compared to the mixed offense and bulk of Ruby) Now to grind a little around Akala to prepare for the Hau fight in Malie, want to minimize the chance of something going terribly wrong

Got to Cinnabar via Pallet, acquired Terry the Tangela and Dangerclam the Shellder/Cloyster. Contemplating whether I should take a run on the Power Plant, and whether to go for a specific mon there. I could abuse repel mechanics to guarantee Electabuzz, or I could not do that and get what will most likely be a Magneton or Magnemite. Or I could use repel to avoid everything and make Zapdos a potential team member. Zapdos would probably be OP, and Magneton offers good typing against poison and psychic in Gen 3, so it's a good choice. But on the other hand, I've never previously used Electabuzz, so it might be neat to try something new.

Victory Road brought a couple of close calls. Even nearly lost Havana to Hugh, which case I would've probably ragequit; the little big guy has been with me ever since my horrific start and he's been fantastic.
I couldn't pick my MVP between him, Prague and Nineveh though. They've all been with me for incredibly long and have put in so much work.

Ok so this run is going wayyy better than expected. No deaths, no switches on the team (which means i've had these guys since the moment i caught them), and a surprising amount of potential in each member. Psychic butterfree is amazing against all gen 1's poison dudes. Graveler is a must-have against hyper-fang raticates. Weepinbell is just amazing overall, and raticate is a great fast sweeper. Pidgeotto was trash (aside from sand attack shenanigans) until he learned fly, and now he's OP. Really the only disappointment has been charmeleon, who has no moves or resistances. It'll come soon enough i hope.
TANK the Graveler took on Surge, and AIRPLANE the pidgeotto took on Erika, and TRACTOR the weepinbell took on Giovanni. Now the route goes towards the safari zone.
My team is
TAXI the charmeleon, lv 29
HELICOPTER the butterfree, lv 29
BUS the raticate, lv 29
AIRPLANE the pidgeotto, lv 29
TANK the graveler, lv 30
TRACTOR the weepinbell, lv 30

Anyone else struggle when it comes to team building, especially in earlier games where tms are limited and movesets are sparse? If I don’t feel like all my pokemon have some purpose that I start sperging out. Anyone have any teambuilding tips (maybe general roles that can be filled)?
Anonymous
>>42441680 Well. It's been a run and a half. I had a near wipe at the start, but a fantastic mid-game losing only two pokémon between Cheren and Skyla. The late game went downhill quickly, losing 8 pokémon between the 6th gym and the e4, only to pull through without any casualties during the pokémon league. Almost feels like an anticlimax now.
Caracas gets the MVP-title because he dominated the league. He fought in against every member except Grimsley and carried us in the champion battle. Dragon Tail really messes Iris up. It put Hydreigon in easy kill range for Nineveh, kept Druddigon at bay and prevented Haxorus from setting up Dragon Dances. Caracas' ability also ensured a safe switch against the Aggron that switched in, which Prague could easily one-shot. Lapras and Archeops were the other 2 that were switched in by Dragon Tail. Caracas could easily kill the former and the latter could do nothing against Manchester. Havana killed both Haxorus (which still tried to DD on red hp) and Druddigon.
So that's where it ends. I'm happy with my final team, I really love the pokémon I used and pokémon like Bisharp and Gliscor are pokémon I wouldn't normally get to use, while Eelektross and Scolipede are probably my favourite gen V pokémon.
Next up I'm probably going to start a Soulsilver Nuzlocke, it's been a while since I've played the game and going on for 2 regions sounds like fun. I'd appreciate ideas for naming themes.

>>42442449 You should definitely give it a shot, I feel like I'm playing a completely different game even though I beat Fire Red dozens of times.
For me the best part of the randomizer is how it feels so much more immersive when you can encounter all kinds of pokemon in the wild, and the trainers might be packing literally anything instead of being locked to a single type or pokemon we already know they'll use.
The randomizer also allows you to play from the start with all kinds of pokemon and not knowing what to expect makes the world feel dangerous and unexplored, it's fucking great.
Just make sure to tweak the randomizer so your game isn't broken.

>>42408668 >Name of Nuzlocke - Game - MVP - Last Death - Last Badge. >RareLocke - FireRed - Huevos (Exeggutor) - Nom (Snorlax) - Marsh Badge So with some team rearrangement and a quick excursion to the Power Plant, I filled out my team and got ready to liberate Saffron City. It went smoothly at first, with Huevos the Exeggutor cleaning up the Poison and Ground types while Electabuzz picked off the flying types. He was able to lay out Pidgeot and Gyarados from Blue with ease, and the rest of his team went down easily to the likes of Nom the Snorlax and Teenyweeny the Dragonair.
Unfortunately, Nom wasn't set to be with us for much longer, as during a battle against Boss Rocket himself, Kangaskhan got lucky between Rest/Snore cycles and laid Nom out in a single critical hit. Dampé's revenge was swift, and Empreg the Seadra washed away Nidoqueen and Rhyhorn.
After this was taken care of, it was time to get the sixth badge. I dropped a couple TMs on Huevos, still very much my MVP at this point, and made it to Sabrina. Alakazam had two CMs by the end, and I knew he could do over 80 damage in a single Psychic. Sabrina was out of Full Heals from my earlier paralysis attempts on Mr. Mime. I used my last Giga Drain, barely scraping up 80HP with it and Leech Seed. I selected Psychic and braced for the hit the next turn, fully expecting Alakazam to do me in... and Huevos the Exeggutor was left on 4HP. Psychic hit, taking Zam into the red, and Leech Seed finished the job.
A close call if there ever was one. Now, it's time for Cinnabar.

After yesterdays disaster things are finally looking up.
>went blind trough the Dark Cave, had some pretty insane encounters and nearly lost Sandstorm >caught a bunch of shit along a Dratini >spent hours at the casino to buy some TMs >spent like an hour brainstorming and refreshing my memory of these games >demolished the nerds at the Bullshido dojo >DOMINATOR dominated the entire Celadon gym by himself, evolving after wiping Erika I'm still disheartened after loosing the boys so I might just quit if I have to re-train one more pokemon to 40.

I posted my run of Black 2 on challenge mode a few months back, and I'm thinking of tackling another run. Back then I made my own images, but I figured I'd save time if I just started using this generator. I already managed to fail one run on the rival battle so I had to restart.

>>42466663 Update: Blaine's down, but so is Empreg, my Seadra. Turns out Take Down from Arcanine does less damage to it in one turn than Fire Blast, so when I survived the first turn with more than half HP, I thought I was safe. I was wrong. Teenyweeny avenged him, though.
After that, it was time for a quick excursion to the Sevii Islands, where I met new friends: Cosby the Hypno (Berry Forest), Kwak the Golduck (Cape Brink), Webby the Psyduck (Bond Bridge), Iranian the Persian (Treasure Beach), Sunset the Rapidash (Kindle Road), Applejack the Ponyta (Mt. Ember), and M'Lazer the Tentacool (One Island). I also backtracked to the Seafoam Islands for a bit and picked up Zooby-Doo the Zubat from the first floor and Nyet the Seel from the depths.
I need to reconsider my team composition before grinding up for Giovanni and the league. Right now, I have a massive weakness to Ice on my team. This needs to be addressed. I also need to figure out whether I want to stick with Dangerclam or switch to a different Water type.

Still grinding away at Cape Brink to get ready for Giovanni. Decided to swap out Dampé the Dugtrio for Dangerclam the Cloyster for the time being to reduce my glaring Ice-type vulnerability and give myself a new Water Pokemon to replace the recently-departed Empreg the Seadra. Given that I've only caught a Pokemon from one of Mt. Ember's zones so far (the exterior), I can, according to my rules, still catch a second Pokemon from Mt. Ember so long as it's taken from the summit or interior. I could theoretically use this to make a run on Moltres once I've levelled up enough, or I could just catch a Machop or something in the interior like a normal person.

Seedot's final evolution, Shiftry, is a strong physical attacker (and a pretty decent special attacker), so Lonely is a great nature.
Seedot evolves at level 14, which is the level I found mine at.

I couldn't bring myself to releasing Reputation and Speaker, so I took it as a second chance. I still wasn't able to save Rep... guess it wasn't meant to be. I boxed Speaker as he would be of no use in Drayden's gym and took Friction out (losing progress also meant I got different encounters, so no Huge Power Azumarill) but we managed to do it. It kind of came down to View hitting with Blizzard, which they gladly pulled off. Friction made quick work of Druddigon and Flygon with a Swords Dance and two Ice Punches.

Just got the Forest Badge, and also I did some changes to the layout. The fight against Mars was pretty smooth, I even got lucky with Irabu's spark paralyzing the opponent. Gardenia was trickier. Perrine's wing attack easily cleared her Turtwig, though it did manage to get a reflect up and switched to Cherrim. I figured that because of the reflect I couldn't really sweep Gardenia's team. I decided to try to stall for time and to use Nebra to set up hypnosis and confuse ray, but the Cherrim used Safeguard and ruined that plan. I then tried to use Nebra and Irabu to whittle down its HP, but it turned out to be beefier than I expected. I was half prepared to sacrifice some Pokemon, but luckily Perrine actually managed to sweep the rest of her team alone, so it didn't become necessary. The Roserade actually died fairly easily.

Oh man, just beat the fifth gym. I've bled twice the amount of pokemon between the fourth and fifth gym inclusive than I had before on the whole run. I'll never do the triple battle again since the fucker just ganged up on Yoda, big loss since he know moon light.
The fight against Clay couldn't have started worse, Suisei missed mudy water and got confused. Thankfully we beat Krokorok on the next turn. Then against the palpitoad lil pup beat him with 2 returns but the Excadrill I was deathly afraid of. Rock break took like 20% off his health and lil pup died. Inca was sent in and only had 2 hp left before he could set up reflect, after trying a psybeam against him. Finally Suisei came back in and beat him with muddy water, surviving purely because of the reflect with 12 hp left. What a ride, but now I need to stabilize and find a new team.

So that was fucking bullshit. I knew Fantina was going to be a hard battle, but I just got fucked. Basically everything that didn't involve Ragyou went wrong. Like either none of the moves landed or if they landed they had close to no effect. The Mismagius started off by critical hit KOing Irabu, then went on to beat Nebra who missed on hypnosis. Perrine had been burned earlier due to bullshit so her attack was neutered, Corsica's attacks did almost no damage. I managed to miraculously paralyze the Mismagius with Ragyou by somehow outspeeding it, but apparently that ghost slut is impervious to being paralyzed so all that happened is that it slowed down a little. The only reason I beat it in the end was a leech seed I managed to drop on it. By the end I had Perrine with the burn status and low health, and Gigachad who doesn't know moves that deal damage to ghost types. In hindsight, I could've made this easier on myself if I'd baited her to use all her potions in the start and taught my team more dark moves, but a lot of the battle was outside of my control. Also earlier I wasted like 20+ pokeballs trying to catch an Onix, and eventually ran out of them being unable to catch it. Why can't I buy great balls after the second gym? Fuck. I even had a metal coat I got from catching Nebra.
