Yes the games will sell well, and that's not even because of the games being good or not, it's just fucking Twitter.
People started to complain about the games on Twitter, random guys get triggered because they are nostalgiafag, they get back to the series after forgetting them for 15 years and buy both games, calling themselves "true fans".
The thing is that the game is not good but not that bad either because it's fucking Pokemon, the games are shit but the concept is good enough to keep some fun in. The only different thing with SwSh is that it's a home console game and sucks as much as a handheld one (And Game Freak said in an interview that they see the Switch more as a home console than an handheld, I'll look for the source later, I must have it somewhere)
My 13yo sister is a big Pokemon fan, she started with XY, and then played all the previous gen before playing SM. I didn't tell her anything about my feelings towards SwSh and she told me she was not asking for it for Christmas because the games look like shit. She knows what modern gaming look like and has come to the conclusion that it is not acceptable. She's not boycotting or anything, she just doesn't feel like it will be funnier than another random game.
The irony here is that if anti-SwSh didn't whine about the games, the games would have gotten less attention, and would have sold less. I just hope they won't define the new standards for the series because not even matching a 13yo girl's standards is very embarrassing.
