>>42425928I mean general consensus seems to be that back in Gen I the Dragon-Type was sort of a secret type given it's only on one line of an uncommon Pokemon. Gen II kind of maintained that by making Kingdra a Trade-Item Evolution and have a pretty beastly BST to boot, plus it directly dealt with the at the time weakness of Dragonite, that being Ice-Types.
Gen III is where I think the started de-mystifying Dragon-Types (and Ghost-Types for that matter) since you had the mid-game Dragon-Type in Altaria which carried over into Platinum. Platinum also had early Gible which I think was when you really start to see Dragon-Type be considered as just another of the types in the series rather than something special.
Gen V definitely solidified that with Druddigon and another non-Psuedo in Haxorus even if it was another Kingdra BST. Gen VI didn't really push in either direction, you got Goodra which is an unusually common Psuedo Legendary for the games it was introduced in (compare it to Dratini, Larvitar, Bagon, Beldum, DP Gible & Deino and you see what I mean) but you also had Noivern which was unusually late game for what is essentially Gen VI's Altaria.
