It should just have active turn based combat where you can actually choose to give them a command instead of just hoping they're not retarded while you mash X.
Next Order had such a cozy vibe and I loved running around with my mons, but the difficulty of some of the monsters with the fact your monsters are retarded just killed my enjoyment of the last half of the game.
