I still used them to decent success back when I played competitve in Gen 6. The trick is finding mons that mesh well with your faves and building around them. Play to their strengths and such.

Octillery, Whiscash, Vespiqueen, Cinccino, Avalugg, Whimsicott(I know she's not bad, but she's a favorite) Grapploct, Jolteon, and Cloyster to name some. I know you may say like "X isn't bad though." The point is, every one of these Pokemon has someone that does what they do but WAY better and like 80% of people on wi-fi run those pokes.

I didn't say I never win though. I'm sure I could manage to eventually beat someone using a team like that if I kept trying.

I play exclusively doubles though, I find it more fun overall. But it makes it more challenging to take care of threats. I run Moonblast/Taunt/Protect/Tailwind on my Whimsicott. Protect because she always gets focused immediately, but I guess I can try to drop it for Twave? I haven't tried that yet.. What usually happens is a Rotom Mow/Wash or some other really fast attacker will come out from the back after my Whimsicott dies and just make short work of me.

The one thing I never got about set up is doesn't all the set up go away upon switching? Why wouldn't you switch out if all you're switching into is a debuff/disable mon?

Yeah that's a good idea. Paired with a flying type or someone with that one ability..it's slipping my mind right now. I'm sure I'll like at least one of them. I'm working on catching a Togedemaru and I'll try to predict switch in to block electric attacks or something. I'm a little embarrassed now, I didn't mean for this to turn into a blog-y type post or anything. Thanks for helping though!
