Masuda and co. more or less reaffirm the stance that there will be no DLC to patch missing Pokemon into SwSh.
SwSh are released. General lack of content, blatantly unpolished features, and basically being rushed games is a common complaint.
Paid DLC is announced containing new legendary Pokemon, new wild areas, new G-max forms, and also features an update that patches 200 old Pokemon into SwSh. All of this, including the CGI footage, basic rendered environments and models, and the Direct presentation, is revealed less than two months after the release of SwSh. DLC of this nature is typically not revealed for several months.
Essentially, the idea is that GF withheld a substantial amount of content from an unfinished game to sell to back to people as DLC at half the price of the base game; two months is simply not enough time to produce and reveal all of this stuff. GF knew what their plans were, but they basically insisted on claiming otherwise. It's pretty much something that companies like EA get panned for on a regular basis. There is going to be drama when half-assed games get paid DLC that probably should have been in the games in the first place. Even then, free DLC is a thing.
So, if GF was really interested in good will of the whole community, the DLC would be free or much cheaper ($5-15). They won't do that though, because the "lol you'll buy it anyway" meme is true for a lot of these morons. And there's nothing to suggest they won't release more paid DLC.
