I haven't played a Pokèmon game since White.
Actually, I played Moon but dumped it after a while because I found it boring.

Is Sword/Shield any good? I'm not really sure about it

Did the same thing, OP. Could not handle how bored Moon made me and dropped it even though I usually try to finish most games.
I found Sw/Sh more engaging. It was pretty fun to explore the world in my opinion, and I liked a lot of the designs, pokemon-wise and character-wise. Also, camping was fun. Try it if you like to play casually.

If you have any standards you should not play Sword and Shield. There is nothign this game can offer you. No exploration. The story is awful. There is no challenge because everything is easy. It is objectively bad.
