Why the hell do random Pokémon like Absol, Wailord and Corviknight get it?

My guess is the whale gets it because of the huge pressure of the deep ocean, and the other two get it because they're meant to give a sense of menace that make the opponent feel like it's under pressure.

This is also the case when you face off against the biggest Pokemon that exists, I think (at the time it was given the ability)

I did in Pokémon Yellow. Champion battle, only had weakened Pikachu left, Blue had a full powered Jolteon. All my moves were depleted except Slam. Used Slam and prayed it would hit. 1HKO his Jolteon
