So how are they going to suddenly explian our starter gigantimaxing? I think the fruit on the weird giant tree has something to do with it

I’m betting they’re just going to give out starters with gigantamax factors as an event, like starter HAs in the past, instead of retconning your starter to have a gigantamax factor.

They'll keep going with the nonsense explanation of Dyna/Gigantamax being a projection rather than an actual transformation, then we'll get something dumb like "Thanks to your bond, your partner has awoken its fighting spirit to develop a Gmax form!"
If they do it that way, maybe other Gmaxable Pokemon could unlock the form instead of needing to catch all-new ones from raids.

hopefully whatever method they introduce works on any pokemon instead of just starters so I don’t have to deal with catching gmaxes anymore.

Are you sure they meant that in "the exact individual you were given at the start of the game" sense and not just using their "your first partner in the X region" language they use for starter species as a whole nowadays?

I'm guessing it'd be like the starter tutors from other games, they can give G-Max to any of the final starter evolutions, but only them and not any other Pokemon.

I think it wouldve been better if instead of having to catch gigantamax versions of pokemon, beating them in raid battles gave you an item to let that pokemon gigantamax if you have it. specific to each species.

Mmmm. Okay but it's only KANTOOOOOO and Galar? Like, if there were G-Max forms for SuMo starters, which are the only ones currently transferable that aren't KANTOOO they would have shown those off as well.
