This is the only Pokémon who I cannot think of one, single, vaguest reason as to why it has one of its Types. What makes Heliolisk part Normal instead of mono Electric?

It can't generate its own electricity, so it stands in the sun to charge up, like lizards irl do to heat their bodies up. It's essentially a regular lizard with regular lizard behaviour, just with an electric solar panel motif.

Normal type slapped onto anything but Flying is a NuPokemon meme, like Fairy or Dragon typing it's meaningless and can be slapped on anything.

It used to be a unique weirdness for Girafarig.

Agreed.
Not generating its own electricity is a common trait across all non-robotic Electr types, i.e static furrymon. So it isn't unique. Also Normal = Field = Mammals...mostly.

You realize that real lizards overheat, right? They can't just be in the sun constantly, even though they do need it to operate.
Plus gamefreak never gives sun any fun shit; we got heliolisk, mega houndoom and charizard (RIP), and torkoal while rain got mega swampert, an absolute must (RIP), pelipper, barraskewda, drednaw, etc. There hasn't even been a new pokemon with chlorophyll since gen 5.

Fuckin' thing couldn't learn Solar Beam or Sunny Day until Generation VIII came out. Still doesn't know Morning Sun, doesn't learn any special Fire move that does damage. This lizard is a joke.
