>>42445488>"straightforward path that echoes the primitive world designs of blue and gold/silver">when red/blue and gold/silver are the least straightforward world designsBW, XY, and SM were all linear as fuck, it's the older games that have complicated world design. How can you call blue straightforward when there's unintuitive things that you need to do to progress like giving the saffron guards a drink from the vending machines?
>"gyms are refreshingly traditional"There is exactly one set of games that doesn't have gyms. Every other game has gyms. They aren't exactly going back to some long-forgotten traditional format used only in the first games. This reviewer is only comparing this game to gen 7.
>"the absence of the national dex made the streamlined number of pokemon refreshing"They literally did this in gen 7. Only the pokemon that appeared in Alola had pokedex entries and counted towards completing the pokedex. The only difference now is they actually stop you from even having the pokemon outside the pokedex.
>"pokemon has become bloated because it's wrapped up in inelegant side systems"What fucking side systems are you talking about? Literally what? Do you mean the totally optional stuff like contests? When have they ever forced you to do anything other than catch and battle except that one time in BW2 when they make you make a movie? I literally have no idea what side systems he's talking about.
Overall, 10/10 it made me mad
