I can read Ukrainian/Russian but not as well as I can read English, so when I read Cyrillic I have to subvocalise to figure out the word, but if you're not an ESL or an idiot there is no excuse for having to (key word being HAVING TO) say things in your head as you read them. If you can't think about one thing while reading another, you're the NPC. If you can't read this entire thread within a minute instead of pronouncing every single word, then you genuinely never learnt to read properly. If you can't look at the word 'slash' or 'wrong' or 'boomer' or whatever and instantly know what it says without having to sound it out, then you can't read.
