The idea of banning certain stuff could have been a good idea.
But they definitely have bias for stall which results in a limited hypercentralized stagnant rotten pool of the same shit in every team.

If they were to ban hyper defensive stall trash their simulator could be somewhat usable.

I wish they weren't so ban-happy.
Banning Dynamax was fine because they did a whole suspect test and only players who actually knew what they were talking about could vote. Banning Darmanitan with no suspect test was a dick move, and so was banning Baton Pass, which eliminates an entire play style.
That said, I do like their tiering system, that allows even shitmons to be useful.

Darmanitan is a wallbreaker.
A stallbreaker is something like taunt Tapu Fini or Heatran.
Toxapex isn't stall because one pokemon can't be an entire team structure. Toxapex is a wall that can be used on bulky offense, balance, or stall.

It's okay. It's nice to have someplace which can give you an idea of what moves work well together on a particular pokemon, even if they overuse Hidden Power far too much. Sure, it's biased towards the meta at the time, but it's still nice to see what any particular pokemon can accomplish and it's nice that a lot of smaller niche pokemon get covered.

Sure, perhaps it's optimal, but it's also disappointing for somebody looking for moveset ideas for a particular pokemon.

They use Hidden Power as a direct answer to a few problematic Pokemon they need to deal with. It's more of a consequence of how good a select few Pokemon are rather than HP being overused in any capacity.

I think they offer a solid source of battle data. The damage calculators are invaluable.

Their moveset guides are really useful as well. I don't always use their EV/IV and moveset guides verbatum, but like I said, they're good for guiding me on how I want to build out my Pokemon.

I've only played the simulator a handful of times. It's okay, but I don't think I've reached that level of autism just yet.

It's a playstyle based around prioritizing keeping your mons alive. Stuff like high defenses, recovery, Protect, Substitute, and only dealing damage through status conditions.
A mon that dies in 1 hit is a pretty crappy stallmon.

Trappers and Shedinja are the exceptions that prove the rule. Trappers get to break from the healing wall mold because removing something from the game outright makes up for not being able to repeatedly switch into anything, Shedinja gets to break from the mold because you don't need to heal when you're completely immune to the mons you're switching into anyways. That being said Tyranitar on stall is some ancient shit, I don't know that even modern DPP uses it.

Unironically it's not, relying on Leech Seed sucks a lot and it means you can't switch into the things you need to long enough. You could use a Rest set but then you're only switching into things that can't do better than a 4HKO, which limits what it's actually good for a lot. There's a reason stall likes mons with 50% recovery moves.

You're correct, but Ferrothorn doesn't often get a place on copy-paste pseudo-stall this gen because being the only viable spiker is less important than being able to sit and spam recovery. Due also to Defog, Spikes are not considered a requirement on what passes for stall these days. You'll see them, and Ferro, more often on offense and balance.
