We all know Magneton is a good design, but why is it so good? I can't figure it out, I've never even used one and I still like it.

A perfect blend of simplicity and complexity.
It has a lot of parts, but they're all either a ball with an eye, a screw, or a magnet. And when it moves, it all moves simply.
Definitely one of, if not the best, objectmon out there.

Magneton would be better if Dugtrio didn't exist, and I don't mean viability wise. There being two evolutionary lines where the final* stage is "first stage but we taped 3 of them together" hurts both designs.
*Magnezone didn't exist in gen 1, obviously
