The risks of smuggling a (3)DS *far* outweigh the rewards. It's better to just serve your time without them; Pokemon can't mean *that* much to you, right? Settle for a Rubik's Cube, or a book or two; practice art.
If you were serving a longer sentence; say, 5+ years, you could have an outside party disassemble the consoles into their individual components, and then lace everyday objects with those. Over time, you'd have enough to assemble a functioning device.
Don't think they'd pass a metal detector, though :/
I wouldn't know how to hide a DS in a cell.
