For better or for worse, I know plenty of people in their 30s (or close to it) who play it with zero social repercussion because of the same "muh nerdshit" culture that makes it socially acceptable to fap to capeshit.
Honestly it works out for us since everyone on 4chan is into fringe shit. It's only newfags super deep in denial who pretend to be machismo on the internet when IRL they fap to mlp and animu porn.
That being said, Soibois and KANTOOOO are definitely a thing, but it's not identical to liking pokemon into their 30s. The whole "hurr durr superultragigachads don't watch this nerdshit so I need to stop" thing is bullshit spewed because they don't know any such people. Spoiler alert: no amount of abstaining from media, whether it's porn, pokemon, or whatever else, will make you move up the social ladder the same way actual charisma and being well groomed will. Being a machismo elitist won't get you anything unless you practice what you preach, which anyone and 4chan obviously doesn't by default.
