I did in x and y's type areas, I forgot what they were called but for some reason it was really easy to find shinies with really good stats there. Also bred a couple shinies in oras.

I've found at least five shinies in my entire life. Three during Gen III, a Spinda, Wingull and Zigzagoon and two in VI, a Lotad and Klefki. Not bad considering I only actively looked for the last one.

I encountered a single wild Golbat in Diamond. Didn't see another shiny until USUM, a random wild Cutiefly.

Galar rolls around, suddenly I've encountered wild shiny Golurk, Meowth, and Dugtrio completely by accident. Dugtrio was when I was trying to hunt Yamask off wild encounters too so it was even more of a shock.
Still haven't found Yamask after 2000 encounters :') switching to eggs.

I lost my first shiny on Ruby when my friend got ahold of my GBA when my back was turned and overwrote my save file with a new game.
Then I lost my 2nd and 3rd shinies when a burglar broke into my home and stole my DS Lite with my copy of Pearl inside it.

They entered through the back window and presumably first stole my mother’s jewelry case. Then they proceeded to turn the rest of the house upside-down and the only other thing they took was the DS. Not even my other consoles or game cartridges. It still baffles me to this day.
