Sure they’re convenient, but they will never entirely replace Blu-rays/DVDs/CDs/records because, by nature, they’re not physical, and thus do not really exist. It’s why I only buy physical games if I’m able to, and I think it applies to Pokémon, too. Love Blastoise? Great. Buy a figure or a plush. Train one in every new playthrough of future games. But don’t develop an emotional attachment to Blastoise A from FireRed, as opposed to Blastoise B from HeartGold or Blastoise C from X. They’re just data, so they’re all the same.
