>>42482416It's the most shallow installment in the franchise to date, half of all Pokemon aren't even in the code, it's loaded with even more Kanto pandering after the slog that was Alola, the difficulty level is non-existent since EXP share is forced onto you with no way to deactivate it, the postgame is an even bigger joke than Masuda's "making games is very hard" comment, the box legends don't have battle themes, the Eternatus battle is completely carried by the AI, the rival once again uses a starter that's inferior to your own and is a friendly rival at that, online is shoddy for the price required, Dynamaxing makes everything horribly one sided if you have even a slight idea as to how the mechanic effects moves, the """villains""" are conceptually a watered down take on Alola's, a lesser group and a higher, initially unknown one, only this time they're completely unrelated and they both play less than half the role that either Team Skull or Aether Foundation did in Sun/Moon. The main villain has a negative IQ motivation for even being in that role because of something he wishes to ensure never happens IN A THOUSAND YEARS but can't wait ONE DAY to ignore, nearly destroys the region in the process and is too much of a feeble fuck to do anything about the fact besides give you an Evangelion clap and get arrested off screen. The champion has absolutely no susbtance as a human being besides being your rival's older brother and comes off more as the self-insert of some kid who grew up playing Pokemon Red and decided to become a hot shot. On top of much, much else, poor textures, ass-fucking-backwards PR handling, flat out lies regarding the dexcut, one again atrocious optimization, awkward animations (which were the citation for said dexcut) and copypasted and updated assets from the 3DS era. It's a mess, it's an afront to the effort of those who actually gave a shit about working on making Pokemon special. And it's only going to get worse from now on.
