But seriously. Of course 1.5x attack on switch in is *like* STAB in the sense that it's the same multiplier, but it's dumb to call it effectively STAB because moves that are fairy or steel still get the STAB bonus added on to the global 1.5x buff.

What's the point in calling it effectively STAB when what it really happens to be is just a simple 1.5x buff entirely separate from STAB?

He is wrong, though. If it gave "effectively STAB to every move", Fairy and Steel attacks wouldn't get "another STAB" on top of it.

For example: Protean. It gives STAB to every move, but Water/Dark moves don't get more powerful on top of that.
1.5x Attack ≠ STAB on every type.

I've said it before in other threads and I'll say it again.
Zamazenta should've been Fairy, and gained the Steel type with the rusted shield. Zacian should've been Ghost, and gained the Fighting type with the rusted sword.

To be fair, Clefairy has a huge movepool and if it had any other any other good mon/dual typing it would work out nearly as well as well as mesh with Unaware and Magic Guard. It could probably make Mono Fire.

This is actually a result of how natdex implemented Megas and Dynamax. You can pick one or the other, but not both, and dynamax Xerneas is incredibly powerful. It’s a tough trade-off.

It actually weakens it because "STAB for any type" instead of "1.5x attack" would mean its actual STABs do less damage since it has no attack boost to go with the STAB
