FRLG are best versions of gen 1, emerald is best version of gen 3.

colosseum and xd are really fucking good games. there's a case to be made that xd is the best game in the series. highly recommend.
>DS
only versions of gen 4 and gen 5, best version of gen 2. if you get one console for pokémon this is it. also plays GBA games.
>wii
only pokémon battle revolution. cool if you've beaten the gen 4 games and want your dudes in 3D but kind of a shit game on its own
>3DS
only version of gen 6 but gen 6 is pretty mediocre. gen 7 is really good though and even includes mega evolution. recommended with apprehension
>switch
no good pokémon games on switch right now. they're remaking mystery dungeon but that doesn't count
tl;dr you need a DS, a gamecube and maybe a 3DS
