It’s better than I expected... how can Gamefreak compete against the ingenuity and diversity of Temtem? I just smashed all my Pokemon cartridges and cut my dick off out of excitement for the executioner of Pokemon. I hope /vp/ sees the light and plans on purchasing this early access gem for 35 USD today at 1pm EST!

The mechanics of those games are foreign enough to Pokemon that they're reasonably different and not obviously a bootleg. I don't even like Yo-Kai Watch because the Yo-kai just do all the fighting without any help. Temtem is just a Pokemon game with very little gameplay change, and some changes in terminology to make it technically not the same. Look at this type chart, you can't tell me this isn't the Pokemon type chart with different names.

Please. Besides, dojo makes hell of a lot more sense anyway. Being the best at a thing has no trademark, and I welcome this annoying little new IP just to have a breath of fresh air in this static franchise.

Who are you quoting? Nobody said this, fact is this is TemTem is heavily Pokemon “inspired” when compared to other games in the sub genre. You can literally see the stark difference from Pokemon and other franchises like Dragon Quest Monsters, Digimon, Yokai Watch, Monster Rancher, Spectrobes, etc. Meanwhile TemTem looks like it plays hardly any difference from your standard Pokemon game.

Honestly had no idea it was coming out and at just $35 on PC compared to $xxx for a switch + Pokemon + DLC + online subscription #1 for the switch + subscription #2 for bank (date TBD) it's hard to not want to give it a try
All my favorite bros got cut in gen8 anyway, so having all new monsters doesn't bother me personally so much, given the new mechanics
Some of the monster designs do seem pretty weak though, but maybe that's just because I'm used to Pokemon; I'd probably say the same thing about Digimon
Thanks for the PSA OP, I'll gave to pick up a copy later today

Maybe if we're lucky it won't be total shit and put even just a little bit of pressure on GF to not take a massive dump on gen4 remakes/gen9

Tamagotchi were more popular with girls, so they made Digimon to try and appeal to boys.
It's wrong to characterise Digimon and Monster Rancher as monster catching games because both started as monster raising games, which is very different. Digimon took elements of monster catching on in the story games but was always distinct from Pokemon
