As someone who rarely took the series' "evil teams" seriously, I actually wouldn't mind if Team Skull/Yell-esque teams became the new norm.

If they didn't immediately shit the bed with the villainous teams one generation after Alola, I might be inclined to agree, but the term "villain" is so far removed from both Yell and Macro Cosmos that it's not even funny, and the already shallow story really, really didn't need that.

Emboar is the best fire type starter. There is also literally nothing wrong with it being a fighting type

I think the main problem people had with Emboar is the fact that it was the third fire-fighting starter in a row, and for many it was getting annoying.

That's subjective. Personally I don't find anything wrong with Emboar, but it's never been my first pick for a starter.
