I'd add contests back and make catching pokemon more about actually getting near the pokemon
Maybe use food to lure pokemon in and certain foods work better for certain pokemon

Go back to Poffins/Pokeblocks/whatever. Bring back Contests. You can feed your Pokemon either from your Bag (using the Poffin Case/Pokeblock Dispenser) or the campsite.

I’d prefer more varied meals, or working restaurants. The Seafood place Rose takes you too after beating Nessa not functioning is lame. And Battle Cafe’s not having a menu after serving you is lame as well. Meals should temporarily boost stats as well.

Expand? This shit needs to be dropped straight up. Its just another example of literal filler to try and make these 15 hour games into 100+ ones. I camped and did the cooking thing literally once and never looked back.

Integrate it into existing gameplay mechanics similarly to Refresh, which went from being its own spin-off minigame to a post-battle care routine.

Streamline camp and curry-making, and remove Pokemon centres from routes, so that the easiest way to heal your mons outside of town is with curry. Because you can't camp in buildings or caves, dungeons are still a challenge that requires healing items.

They coulda made cooking just Diet Cooking Mama. Actual recipes and involvement with the meals, which would all be unique. But instead of adding depth and anything of value to fleshing out your recipe book, it's all curry with the same flavor differences. And that's coming from someone who's autistic enough to have went through the effort of finishing the curry dex. Shit's so mind-numbingly boring and it has no reward outside of the mediocre satisfaction and gOlDeN uTenSiLs. It doesn't even stop there, all the toys are just bouncy balls besides one. Can't even pet your Pokemon anymore, either. And the way they did Camp just as a whole was so disappointing. Albeit it was better than Amie/Refresh, but not nearly as good as it could be. It's so depressing.
