I feel like models make Pokémon look so bland and (ironically) inanimate. Like in just this art Intelleon looks great, and in most other concept and fan art I see of him he is always doing some cool action pose that sells how dynamic he is suppose to be. The models on the other hand have to be just standing, and then he looks like he's just a bored actor on the set of the Gex movie waiting for the director to call him into the scene. Another great example is Wailord. The original sprite of Wailord has you looking up at it. Even though it's the same size as other sprites the art makes you feel like "shit this guy is big". Now though you see it's just as big as the other Pokémon. I know there are advantages to 3D and a lot of this is laziness like the Wailord example, cause I played Colosseum and know you can make a model of it look amazing, but if Game Freak isn't going to take full advantage of 3D I would rather they just make 2D games well than 3D games bad. For instance the Wild Area would work really well in 2D, and they could make it feel much faster than it really is with good level design. Thoughts on 3D vs 2D.
