> not to walk down corridors while being interrupted with shitty random encountersThere are three solutions to the complain of the random encounters, first is one the games have already implemented, that being make all Pokemon appear in the overworld, it makes avoiding encounters easier. Second is also one that's already in the games, a dedicated item that prevents random encounters (Repels), which should be changed so that there is a scale of decreasing % from the level of the player's Pokemon up to say 20 levels above so even if you're running through a cave with a Pokemon at Level 20 then Level 21 encounters aren't going to just swarm you all the time. Thirdly and probably the one that the games just in general could benefit from is having a lower encounter rate.
Also something I think you neglect here is that people don't solely play Pokemon for the battling or catching mechanics, I know for myself personally and given a previous thread that was on here today there are others that would agree that there are other elements of Pokemon that we appreciate being in the games to break up the amount of battles such as exploration, NPC dialogue, side mechanics and minigames.
And at the same time if all that remains of Pokemon is the battle system why not just make the games like Stadium at that point and have GO function as the method of catching Pokemon since you can transfer Pokemon from GO into the games?
