Gamefreak has proven themselves to be entirely disinterested in making a cohesive story or world for pokemon. This is weird though seeing how they constantly try to force a shitty story down the player's throat. Im not sure if this is because they think they're competent writers and want to express whatever story they have in their head or if they forgot about the fact that pokemon red and blue sold well not in spite of it's lack of story but because of it's lack of story and focus on the gameplay and social aspects of the game
