I did a run with it in Platinum and it felt weird catching Chingling, a common early-game mon, raising it until it evolved into Chimecho and keeping it on my team after that... this is coming from a Hoennfag
Chimecho was one of the rarest mons in gen 3 and only appeared late-game in a few small patches of grass at the very peak of an isolated mountain, if it appeared at all
