>>42520399It's not soulful, at all, when the entire reason you are going to Granite Cave is to find Steven. In RSE this is actually a soulful mission, Steven's room is in the deepest part of the cave and you have to go through every room to find him. You pass all the places you can't access now and tell yourself you'll have to come back later because there must be goodies in here. Unless you want to walk through darkness you have to use a mon's move slot for Flash. It's a small mission, sure, but it's something. You've given Steven his letter and now you've got to make your way out of the cave. You encounter a mon and it's one your childish eyes have never seen before, it's a fucking goblin with jewels for eyes. That's based, you say out loud. You catch it, and it's got a unique and cool typing. It's literally now your favourite Pokemon, and you're having the time of your life.
In ORAS, you can find Steven without even encountering a Pokemon. You enter Granite Cave, walk 5 steps down a hallway, turn right, walk 5 more steps and you're there. Cutscene. You're done. No cool Pokemon to catch, no dark, mysterious cave that you'll want to come back to at any time. New players will never see a Sableye or an Aron, and old players will keep encountering Zubats over and over until they realise they're never going to run into one in this butchered version of a cave that was once cool.
Fuck ORAS.
