>>42520512The original game suffered from incredibly strong and over-centralizing basic Pokemon, but was subset by several evolution strategies, such as Rain Dance being able to compete, and in some cases even outperform Haymaker decks.
Unfortunately instead of properly balancing the game to facilitate the latter forms of these strategies, they instead decided to inject a bunch of EX and GX kind of cards that required no real resources to play, and the only time you would ever see regular Pokemon take deck space or take games is if they did something incredibly degenerate on their own, such as card loops or infinite damage.
It's a real shame they want so drastically onto the power creep side of things, especially when it turns 95% of all cards in a set into mere pack filler. The cards looking pretty is probably the only positive left in the TCG.
