Steel nerf made it weak to Dark and Ghost.
Psychic STAB is shit in its own right, and Zen Headbutt is a shit move on top of that.
Light Metal is a fucking useless HA and Clear Body is only okay at best. Nowhere near the level of Sand Stream, Multiscale, Moxie, Intimidate or Levitate.

It was the shittiest OU mon in Gen 5 thanks to the explosion nerf. It wasn't Electivire-tier bad but it had no business being there in BW/2 when it couldn't land surprise OHKOs anymore.

Gamefreak is actually retarded because while making steel not resist ghost and dark to nerf aegislash, completely forgot that aegislash itself was a ghost type, thus buffing it at the same time by making it harder for steel types like magnezone to check and counter it since they couldn't switch in on a resisted shadow ball.

The intelligent move would be to, you know, nerf the pokémon specifically instead of just kicking every steel pokémon in existence in the teeth. Ghost/Steel was a very scary type combination, sure, but it's not like it was the only great type combination. The part that pushed Aegislash into insanity was King's Shield and the form changing bullshit, even with shit tier typing it still would be miserable to fight.

Steel type is basically a better treated ice type. Ice is a good offensive typing, but almost every ice type is a slow mixed attacker or frail because of type flavor. Steel type SHOULD be a slow defensive type for the same reason, but they also make fast offensive steel types like zacian, so the type keeps coming off as overpowered.
