Because or their resemblance to human babies, humans will tend to baby them.

How would they find their trainer again?Most Pokemon seem to be able to exit their balls at will in the anime, so I'd imagine a Gardevoir could bust out of their ball if lost. They can probably "sense" their trainer's presence or traces of it like a compass, giving them some direction until they find them again.

I'd imagine they'd be erratic and confused; it'd be like living your whole life in the dark. If they still recieved communication, like via video, then I imagine they'd also try to mentally attach emotions to those images.
If you then exposed them to human contact, they'd be even more confused and disoriented as they felt the first emotions from someone else. They might become overwhelmed by the emotions of the other person and become hysterical.
