>>42539360>So it's okay to sell a worthless Kanto rehash because "well there's always next game"?basically, yeah. as I already said, what matters is that LGPE were marketed as spin-offs while SS are main entries. a main entry not having all the Pokemon has serious implications for the following games and the series as a whole, while a spin-off focusing on the "original 151" doesn't.
>Because it's physical content in the game. A game with 800 mons is objectively better than the same game with 400 mons true but again, a good amount of those mons cannot be found in the wild anyway, it's all about the new ones. so if I hated every Pokemon introduced in gen 7 and if I don't play for post-game only I would probably not have a good time with SM.
I don't entirely disagree with you here, I think the growing variety of Pokemon (and the meta in general) has always been underrrated by people who hate on the newer gens.
but the dex cut "uprising" was not just blind hate. I don't think people are wrong for wanting their favorite pokemon to be in the next iteration of the series. even if they were lucky this time, the dex cut implies that their favorites could still be erased in the future.
>This doesn't work in the long term. Are you going to expect 1000 mons or 1500 mons? When does it end? When does the amount of old mons become non-critical to gameplay (unless you're literally asking for infinite Pokemon)?the numbers you mention are still very feasible. I would personally prefer if they'd just focus on making some of the already existing pokemon more viable rather than just adding more shitmon on top. the point I'm making is that they could've very well included all Pokemon in SS but they decided not to, not because it's technologically impossible but because they needed to release the games before christmas. the upcoming DLC just proves this. i don't care what happens in the future, we'll have to wait and see.
