>>42546256okay, you didn't think that far ahead so I did it myself. also in case you didnt know, the beasts flee automatically at the end of the turn unless you trap them with mean look or block, so no, you can't just ingrain or suction cups. you need to stop them from fleeing AND yourself from being forced out:
there is almost no option in maingame hgss. theres nothing that gets mean look PLUS ingrain/suctioncups.
there are a few pokemon that get block + ingrain or suctioncups though, abomasnow, cradily, and tangrowth.
abomasnow and cradily are postgame and dont get a status move in hgss, plus abomasnow dies to entei flamethrower so it wouldnt be a good option.
tangrowth learns block in gen 4 as its LAST MOVE. at lv 57. you can get tangela when you have 7 badges so its somewhat lategame and you need to level it up immensely, but it gets block and ingrain as well as the status of your choice in the form of sleep powder/stun spore (and poison powder but you dont want that)
AND EVEN THEN ITS WEAK TO ENTEI FLAMETHROWER.
nothing is worth the trouble. just fucking use haunter or gengar and live with the fact that you'll have to encounter it more than twice.
but if you REALLY, REALLY, REAAALLLY want to trap it forever, use tangrowth against raikou.
oh and if you're playing gen 2 and not gen 4, tough luck. turn off the game.
