i mean, playing them all the time is a bit of an overstatement since they are still GF pokemon games and thus boring to replay unless you set some special rules like Nuzlocke or something
but yeah, they are very good pokemon games

Now that I think about it, the Virtual Console versions allow you to easily get Hidden Abilities and Celebi. And they're probably easier to obtain in 2020 than FRLG or HGSS. But other than those, or nostalgia, I agree, there's no reason not to play FRLG or HGSS instead.
