If we assume that adding Pokemon back in was either a response to the backlash, or that all of their reasonings for the cut were lies and it was really because they were incompetent and didn’t have enough time to put them in the base game, then we could expect them to have the entire dex by the next gen
If we assume that they cut the dex out of malice (i.e. to use as marketing and to drum up controversy), then expect this cycle to happen all over again
You could argue for all three reasonings
