Crystal = underleveled and actually linear as fuck
Platinum = challenging game, good E4 but region not as grandiose as everyone makes it. Not much of a postgame either
Emerald = pretty damn linear. Battle frontier is nice

Unova = a region that truly feels alive. Good characters, story, postgame.

The way the game is animated is inherently bad. Motion tweening never looks good especially when it causes the sprites to look like they're constantly resizing. But you'll just say "that's just your opinion I like it" so it doesn't really matter whether I post a video or not.

You guys realize the entire reason G5 looks that way is due to the insufficient resolution of the DS's display, right? Those issues automatically disappear when played at 720p or above. Sprite scaling effects are not suited for a low-res pixel grid. In other words, the graphics are still entirely present, but they are scrunched by the shit-tier display they had to work with.

The game (aka the software), looks acceptable. You have yet to disprove this fact. The hardware (minus the screen) is also sufficient, albeit woefully sub-standard when compared to its contemporaries. The DS did not require higher processing power to increase the clarity of its sprites; merely a clearer display. The polygonal assets could easily be upscaled with only minor visual sacrifice while the pixel-based assets would appear perfectly clear. Modern emulators go several steps further by increasing the native rendering resolution. I am not implying an increase to native res is required, however. Therefore, your greentext is inaccurate.

The screen possessing sub-200p resolution does not mean the game looks bad; it means the screen looks bad. For a more practical example, try looking at a beautiful vista IRL through a crusty, dirt covered window. Simple logic, anon.

How is this an argument? Nintendo didn't surprise Gamefreak with the DS screen specs -- this was the second generation Gamefreak worked on for the DS. They were fully aware of the limitations of the hardware at this point. If Gamefreak picked an artstyle that didn't look good on the ONE piece of hardware they were developing for, then that's entirely on them. And the screens weren't the only the problem, there were also the sprite sizes. For example, the back and front pokemon sprites are the same pixel size, so zooming in and doing closeups on the back sprite would result in pixelation regardless of how good the screens are.

A think the issue with Gen 5 is that it abandoned the familiarity of older pokemon almost entirely until you beat the game, which I imagine turned a lot of people who move on to another game after the Elite 4. Anyways, pretty much an dungeon that culminates in a legendary, especially when it’s a surprise is soulful.

Every game after Gen 1 was imitating it's formula including 5 (a new dex isn't changing the formula, it's a gimmick).
