Spike Chunsoft is an external dev team by the publisher of the Pokemon games, The Pokemon Company. Publishers determine most factors that aren't related directly to game development, like marketing, pricing, release date etc. and the dev only gets a say in those if they need to.

Something like the launch price of a game is 100% a choice of the publisher (TPC) and not the developer (Spike Chunsoft).

Its bullshit, but I do think that has played a major role in it not being criticized as much. Yeah, Persona 5 Royal is bullshit too. I remember they were advertising DLC for it as a new feature before the game even came out. However, one company doing shitty business practices does not justify another, and at least the base Persona 5 is a game that is more than strong enough to stand on its own without the retarded extras

Persona 5 had much more content than GameFreak could only imagine Pokemon having making it a complete game instead of the demo SWSH are.

P5R is the same game with even more additional content and fixes the issues the orginal had, while the expansion pack in SWSH just ads two areas with possibly little to no exploration and empty areas and fixes no issues with the original product, not mentioning the cut the Pokemon from past games just to add them again for no reason.

TL;DR They're no in the same situation, cope and dilate

My biggest beef isn't even with GF right now as I feel a major reason they're struggling is just due to bullshit release schedules. It's not - the main reason they're struggling is their majority staff (IE, not the old guard who'd done Gen I/II or even III, the new hires they did for HGSS and Gen V) are all middle-aged and due to Nintendo not spending too much on the handhelds in the tech specs department, are now hampered trying to learn shit that other devs got a start on 10 or 15 years ago on them. The newer, younger staff, they might know or have experience, but they're not getting appointed team leaders just yet, so all they can do is try and help their elders learn.

When SWSH released you had people all over twitter basically bragging that they would buy whatever Gamefreak made without thinking about it; do people like this exist for Chunsoft? The basic attack didn't do only 5 damage until Gates. Back in Rescue Team and Explorers you had a limit on PP for moves and you couldn't really raise it, so the basic attack was useful for conserving that limited PP.

In Gates and Super you can level up your moves, which increases their power and PP, so the basic attack is less useful. Super also had more of an emphasis on items, which gave you more options. Super also had emeras which allowed you to conserve PP (I think there were IQ skills that did that in Explorers), so I'm assuming this remake will have something similar. I'd still like there to be a basic attack, but it's not like we don't have anything to supplement it.

Gates and Super also filled out the movesets of the available starters with a bunch of egg moves. While that was okay for Gates since the egg moves were pretty crappy anyways (only Snivy really benefitted and that was because Snivy's moveset is awful for coverage) Super gave every starter unusual moves - Charmander got Dragon Rage and Flame Burst, Cyndaquil got Double Kick, Squirtle got Power-Up Punch, Pikachu got Grass Knot, etc. For some starters you could go the whole game without replacing those moves.
