"It's original purpose" of storing shit was more expensive when it was a Gamecube game called BOX, and unlike Bank, this has a free version where you can still make use of it even in months where you decide not to pay. You don't need to buy yearly subscritions to keep your collection alive, you can literally just buy a month every once in a while.

By your logic, Google Docs should have a subscription for millions of dollars a year because it's got tens of thousands of times the storage space and can actually store stuff other than files strictly tied to a single game. But it's free. It has GTS - which had been a staple of the series since Diamond/Pearl until they removed it from Sword/Shield, for NO REASON.
It has an IV checker, which has been a staple of the series since Emerald, and unlike GTS, is still present in Sword/Shield.

They are charging you three times as much for pic related. Home is hostageware.
