Do you even know how to pose models? People who do it for fun can pose these in less than an hour in MMD or SFM.. This is stupidly inexpensive and the cheapest and fastest way to do it while retaining the 3d models scalability

Because the official art is inconsistent on account of Sugimori changing styles over the years, having Ohmura do the art for SM (sans Alolan Forms), Sugi doing the art again for USUM, and then Turner or someone else doing the art for SWSH. It's especially noticeable in the line work for SM's official art.

Actually, the dream world artwork is pretty nice. It standardizes a lot of the artwork (since the designs aren't done by just ken sugimori anymore) and nothing is in a super dynamic pose. it looks good visually. the flat sort of style works as its pretty popular right now too.

Proportions of Pokemon that they've designed to make more mascot-like are already in the models. Compare the Sugimori art of Pikachu and the render of Pikachu. Pikachu no longer looks like the former.

Yes, that's the point. It's standardized, whereas Sugimori's style has changed over the years, or differant artists did it.

That's why merchandise uses DW/GL art and the anime uses its own art.
