I'm doing a sapphire nuzlocke where I am only allowed to fight trainers, no grinding. That includes wild pokemon and rematches. Or rather I WAS doing a sapphire nuzlocke. Things were going great, only loss was a lotad against Roxanne even tho I've been underleveled the whole time. Magneton is terrifying, he one shot my combusken (lv 21) with shockwave, who was my only real method of defeating him at all. only other mon that could have possibly worked would have been my shroomish (lv 19) cause of the resistance and decent bulk, plus leech seed and mega drain. sadly he was already low on HP from a self destruct from voltorb and got one shot as well. I was also restricted to no items during battle so I had to watch as my mons got one shot one by one. It really sucked. This was my first nuzlocke but I am dedicated to try again with the same rules. I am considering either doing sapphire again or maybe switching to diamond and pearl. Not sure which

Beat Roxanne without any deaths. The catches I've been getting have been pretty mundane, but the natures have been rocking so far. Jolly nature for Robin the Tailow and Harley Quinn the Zigzagoon, neutral natures for the Aquas, and Brave for Raven. Not bad run so far.

Decided to go for Blaine before Sabrina since Sabrina is terrifying, RV steamrolled his way through the gym by way of Earthquake which netted us an easy win, now to see if we can't survive against a barrage of Psychics

About to head into the league, decided to go for a risky play, putting all my proverbial eggs in one basket with Felicity, dumping all 12 Rare Candies I had picked up into her since I believe she might be able to solo the league all on her own. Because of this I've put Helleur the Paras on the team instead of RV, so that I might use a Nidoking in the future and avoid using a Parasect (that is, if everything goes according to plan)

The other two died pretty quickly, but I was pretty excited to have a bastiodon. I'm about to face Crasher Wake with Neon(Luxray), SodiumII (Roselia) and Baryon (Crobat). Flannery was also damn close, I was slightly underlevelled because I thought a Thick Fat Azumarill could solo it with no issue. I almost lost ended up losing him because I didn't know Torkoal had Attract (my team is currently all male) and the Body Slams were wearing him down. He managed to get through paralysis and attract to get the ko finally while in the red, which was a relief.
If I lost him or even had to switch out I don't think anyone on the team could take an Overheat, so I probably would have lost at least two.

I haven't actually been nicknaming things this run. Been trying a new system where I only give names to my team going into the E4 after they've 'earned' them. I'm really bad at naming so it helps to give them AFTER they've had a chance to develop some'personality if that makes sense.
Also I always forget the names I give and just refer to them by the Pokemon name anyway. The nicknaming rule is meant to get you attached but I do that through making these shitty paint templates for a more personal touch.

The fourth gym was quite easy after Neon evolved into a Luxray, but I'm kinda worried about The fifth gym. Hopefully Gengar can outspeed everyone and bring home the victory, but if anything goes wrong he could easily faint. I have some back up dark type moves, but hopefully it doesn't come to that. I had Swellow down to 4hp and Endeavored Slaking to the same, I had no idea whether to Endeavor again in case he healed or attack for the KO. I ended up guessing wrong but he was loafing anyway so it didn't matter.
I also forgot Dark was a Special type so my Defense Curl spam was mostly wasted after a couple Faint Attacks.
Don't feel like I deserve this badge tbqh, I've been pretty stupid.

Fifth gym down. Basically just spammed shadow ball with gengar and one shot everyone except Mismagius, but it couldn't one shot my Gengar either so it just went down the next turn. Might've been lucky that I got a critical hit on Drifblim.

IMO, the best approach would be to randomly decide (coin flip) which pool of pokemon you go after in each new area you enter.

With Castform it's one of the easier Gyms in the game imo, this is the first time I've wiped to Winona before. Tate & Liza are normally where I lose. Just don't let Altaria get boosted. Running ahead to grab a Shuppet for Will-O-Wisp might be a good idea too

Fucking Venus' Purugly killed Roserade like 10 minutes after I finally used the sun stone to evolve Roselia. Guess I was right about eventually losing pokemon weak to psychic, now only 3 of them are weak to psychic. Luckily I had Nickel (Misdreavus) in the day care, so I didn't need to grind her too much. Already a Mismagius, hopefully the same thing won't happen again.

I put Macaron in the front against Lance to deal with Gyarados and hopefully be able to take down at least his Aerodactyl, but after being softened by his two Dragonairs, Macaron went down to Aerodactyl leaving Barbara to take down it and the Dragonite in tow
Last battle against the rival was a little nerve-wracking, his Pidgeot, Rhydon and Venusaur I knew would go down to one Psychic, but his Alakazam, Gyarados and Arcanine would be able to take at least one hit and would then be able to retaliate.
Alakazam wasn't the worst, Seismic Toss barely didn't 2ko, but he wasted some time using Reflect. He did manage to confuse Barbara with a Psybeam (because of course), so I opted to sacrifice the Goldeen I had brought with so as to guarantee that the confusion wouldn't fuck me over
Next up was Gyarados who...went down thanks to a crit
Arcanine tanked a Psychic...but then opted to use Roar which did nothing
And then the rest of his team was smooth sailing
Onwards to Yellow!
