No, because Pokemon is so ubiquitous and offers a casual experience, so even if someone is a fan of many monster collecting games, there's a great chance they can simply play the alternative series AND Pokemon. You don't need to pick one or the other like choosing a mobage to focus on or anything like that.

at the end of the day, if it scratches the pokemon itch without rewarding the absolute scum Gamefreak are pulling with this game, i don't care, it does what it needs to.
$60 for a half cocked game
$30 dlc that goes against everything they said to justify the cut
$16/year to get back mons you ALREADY HAVE
$20 for nintendo online
