It's definitely an improvement on the pokémon formula. No rng, a stamina system instead of PP (honestly this alone makes it a better game), and everything is co-op able double battles. If pokémon didn't have the brand loyalty behind it today it'd be an instant flop

even though only half the game is out, id say theres a hefty amount of content -- id wait for some stuff to get added tho. i bought it and its clear that while the core game is pretty great there are some mechanics that need to be reduced in terms of grind (like there being no easy way to fast travel or the crazy expenses of breeding)
