Pokemon is a brand, and that's not the image they want the brand to have.

Furthermore, not many entertainment companies these days make products for kids anymore, and seem outright ashamed to make stuff for kids. Just look at what happened to comic books.

Also it's aimed at literal toddlers, what do you expect? It's not risky because it sells like crazy. The only reason pokemon exists is because it sells like crazy. The only pokemon branch that I can say at least TRIES is the anime (despite failing on almost all levels), but that is also likely motivated by money

Other then that other characters have died including Dr. Fuji and nine scientists (twice in their case) via immolation, Lysandre via disintegration, Lucario via.... something. Shows plenty violent
