I want to buy genuine Pokemon plushies but I live in Europe and Pokemon Center won't ship here.
So, my next option is eBay, unfortunately.
How do I tell the Chinese fakes apart from genuine ones?
I mean even if the seller has the official Pokemon center product pics up, he might ship out a fake.

Well first off...

This is another plus if, after doing all this, you DO get a fake. As long as you communicate through eBay and provide the needed information to eBay they’ll usually refund your purchase.

This. Same goes for figures. If the going value of a figure is ~$200, and a seller is selling "it" from eBay for ~$30, and the location says "China", "Hong Kong", or "Thailand", then stay away. If it's at market value and says "Japan" or "United States", you're good.

So, avoid Chyna, stock images, and too-good-to-be-true prices.

Ok guys I'm on Amazon Japan right now..
But this doesn't look very convincing either.
They all use the same stock pics and it's unclear who made the plush.
It sometimes says "pokemonsenta orizinaru" in the title but sometimes not even that.
Like if it says Eevee all star collection what is this

So long as it's officially licensed. Tomy is licensed by TPC to make shit.

The answer is the same as before. For Japanese merch, Japan, Australia, and the US are the only trustworthy places to buy from--Japan because it's the source and Australia/US because if you contact the seller for more info you actually will talk to a real seller and not a Chinese robot.

It's almost like that how business works. Not to go /pol/ on you, but the same happens with selling campaign merch on eBay to non-US countries. You can double or even triple the price because the person who wants to buy it, but can't buy it through regular channels, has no choice if they want it.

I mean why can't the Pokemon company just produce a steady supply of merchandise?
The reason fakes and triple prices exist is because the company is so autistic they only do limited runs in Japan.
This means a lot of foreigners move to Japan ONLY to hoard this stuff and sell it to other foreigners.

I mean, it works. Look at the price of OOP figures, DVDs, and plushies. All of them are 2-4x their original prices, and people still buy them. Amazon JP, CDJapan, eBay, etc., etc. You'll find the same thing.
