USUM were pretty good and made the story of SM much better. I think everything after B^2W^2 were bad except USUM.
Gen 5 has the best artwork though. They should have started using attack animations from gen 3 mixed with Gen 5 sprites
The Unova games did have the least interesting region though. Mostly bad and uninteresting locations for legendaries plus the map is pretty much a circle with a 4th of it reserved for just post game.
I remember being amazing by the graphics when you are riding into the big city and the cool 3d effects of everything moving.
